'At all times I have found Alice to be reliable and hard-working.  Alice has been able to work as a senior assistant in the craft workshop and taken on responsibilities involving co-ordinating activities, being responsible for administration tasks including care plans for people with learning disabilities in the craft workshop and homes.  Alice has been involved in mentoring and supporting newer assistants and has been able to teach and share her knowledge and experience to support other members of the team.

Alice is very patient with people with learning disabilities and has excellent communication skills.  Alice has used Makaton/Signalong to speak clearly to people with learning disabilities.  She has been able to provide guidance to teach people to be as independent as possible when creating crafts products.

Alice has lots of creative gifts.  She is able to create beautiful products, cards, presents and window displays.  She is innovative with her ideas and able to create designs which enable people with learning disabilities to participate in the creation of the craft products.

Alice can be depended to work as a lone worker either on a 1:1 level with individual people with learning disabilities or with a bigger group.  She has been able to form good relationships with people with learning disabilities and has shown skills such as empathy and sensitivity.  She has demonstrated these skills when supporting a woman with anxiety and mental health needs.  Alice has been able to show a real understanding of the values behind empowerment and person centered care.

Mark Hudson, Chairman L'Arche Lambeth, UK

'Alice has long worked with people with disability of all categories, both children and adults. Much of it has been in a non-reidential setting but has involved offering emotional support. She has a deep capacity of emphaty and always keen to grow and learn and is unassuming.

Alice is reliable, very honest and trustworthy. She is an artist by nature and hence would like to do things well, completely- this takes time. However she is very prompt for appointments and good with time keeping. She does well with others in a team and is serious about her responsibilities, adapts at playing many roles within a team enviroment.

I have known Alice for 23 years. Initially as a friend then as a committee member and advisor of Network where she worked as a Resource Officer and as a spiritual co-journeyers.'

'Daybreak is a voluntary organisation for adults with disabilities. They are trained in a skilled job (eg: quilting, smocking, card making, t-shirt painting and printing, ceramic painting and many others) according to their abilities and their mobility.

Alice created and coordinated the designs, colours and themes/looks of all our products. She constantly came up with new ideas to ensure that they have always have something to do and earn a living.

Being in such an environment, Alice also did a lot of counseling and listening at the same time as these special people had a lot of needs. She help to meet this need on top of her own work at the centre and did home visits too around Perak.'
